Who is Eligible?
Traineeships are available to Australian residents of working age with or without a secondary school certificate or other qualification. They can be a school leaver, re-entering the workforce or an adult worker simply wishing to change careers. Trainees must be engaged as a permanent employee, working a minimum of 15 hours per week. Plus, they must not have similar prior qualifications at an equivalent level or higher which were obtained less than 7 years ago.

Traineeship eligibility must be approved by an Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) for more information about traineeship eligibility - click here

Why Should I Employ a Trainee?
Traineeships provide a range of benefits for your organisation:

  • Your staff can be trained to your business requirements;
  • Can be full-time, part-time or school-based, depending on what suits your business;
  • Flexibility for off-the-job training components, with options around timing, location and nature of the training to suit your business needs;
  • A range of financial incentives for eligible employers (minimum of $4,000);
  • Nationally recognised qualifications and competencies;
  • Encourages employee commitment, improves staff retention rates and reduces employee turnover; and,
  • Existing skills and prior experience can be recognised and course credit granted, potentially reducing formal training time.

Who Pays for the Training in Queensland?
New workers (those employed by you for less than 12 months part time or 3 months full time) and existing workers may be eligible for funding of their training by the State Government's "User Choice" program. Royal College of Healthcare is a preferred supplier for this funding program.

If eligible, trainees are still required to make a contribution to the training (approx. $800).

Existing workers who are not eligible for traineeship funding can be funded by either the employer or the worker themselves. We offer a range of options, including instalment payments and group discounts. Contact us for full details on 07 3257-7799 or info@royalcollege.com.au.

Who does the training?
We have been funded to deliver training as a Preferred Supplier under User Choice traineeships for many years and we are currently a pre-qualified supplier to Queensland DET.  Contact us for an obligation free discussion about how traineeships can work for your organisation.
